The Denton City Council meets at 6:30 tonight to canvass results from the May 8 election and swear in the winners.
The only new face this year is James King, an insurance agent who defeated four other candidates to take the at-large Place 6 seat Joe Mulroy is leaving because of term limits. Mayor Mark Burroughs (Place 7) and Mayor Pro Tem Pete Kamp (Place 5) each overcame an opponent to win re-election.
A reception will precede the meeting at 5:30. Both events are at City Hall, 215 E. McKinney St.
