A RED FLAG WARNING IS IN EFFECT ALONG AND WEST OF INTERSTATE 35. Low humidity, dry vegetation and very gusty winds will continue a high wild fire danger for portions of north Texas including Denton County through 6pm today. Winds will begin to calm down as the Sun sets and the atmosphere decouples. Speeds will drop to 5 - 15 mph. The calmer the wind tonight the cooler our nighttime low temperature will be. I expect that in the rural areas the temperature will drop into the upper 20s to near 30. Provided the winds die down significantly we should see temperatures fall to or just below freezing in the urban areas on Sunday morning. Winds will come around to the south-southwest on Sunday and we will see a warming trend begin for next week. |
