Changes in our weather are coming this evening. Currently the cold front mentioned before is moving through the Oklahoma and Texas panhandles. However, a sharp dryline is beginning to develop across west central Texas. The dryline may make it into the western sections of our area this evening just before being overtaken by the cold front. A few storms, some potentially severe, will be possible late this afternoon mainly to our west along the dryline. Moisture continues to flow northward in advance of the whole system on strong southerly winds. I've seen some wind gusts around the area reach 40mph and a Wind Advisory is still in effect through this evening. Winds will shift to a northerly direction overnight as the front makes it through the area. Scattered showers and thunderstorms will be possible with the frontal passage. Again with the strong dynamics of the system I can't rule out the possibility of isolated severe storms. However, with the front passing through during the night time hours (least amount of heating) the chances won't be quite as good as they would with a late afternoon passage. Also the majority of the energy in this storm system will pass to the north of us. Skies will clear, the humidity will drop and the temperatures will pleasant. The coolest periods should occur on Friday morning and Saturday morning with lows dropping into the low-mid 40s. Daytime highs will be in the mid 70s. Winds will pick up out of the south again as we get into the weekend and begin bringing in moisture ahead of our next system that is forecast to arrive during the Sunday to Monday timeframe. Have a great Wednesday.
