Weather Update - Thur 12:15pm...
The changeover is now beginning in earnest. Reports from areas in Denton now showing rain and wet snow falling. Some large flakes “slush-balls” reported which is indicative of the wetness of the snow.
We are seeing a situation now, as I mentioned in a post on the snow event earlier this week, in which there are going to be areas that get large accumulations quick –especially with thundersnow- whereas a couple of miles away there will be minimal amounts. However, at this time I've not seen anymore lightning strikes in the last hour.
Temperatures are beginning to drop into the lower and mid 30s now, with Decatur reporting snow and 33 degrees.
A quick radar analysis shows persistent “bright banding” across Parker, SE Wise and the NW ½ Denton counties.
