Windy today and windier tomorrow with critical wildfire conditions developing...
Spring-like weather will continue today with windy humid conditions. The low clouds and a few sprinkles hanging around will exit the region this morning and give way to partly cloudy skies and temperatures making it to around 70 this afternoon. The dryline will approach from west Texas this evening and give the eastern sections a slight chance of thunderstorms. The dryline will also serve to dry out the western sections where there will be an elevated grass fire danger this afternoon. The National Weather Service has issued a Wind Advisory through 6pm this evening for the Denton area. Winds may gust above 35mph this afternoon.
A cold front will move through the area on Tuesday and bring even windier conditions with it. Due to the drying of the atmosphere and winds gusting over 40mph tomorrow we will see critical fire danger conditions develop in the area. Don't be surprised to see a Red Flag Warning issued for tomorrow afternoon. Here is a quote from the National Weather Service in regards to tomorrow's conditions...
”WEST AND NORTHWEST WINDS BETWEEN 25 AND 35 MPH...WITH GUSTS
BETWEEN 45 AND 55 MPH WILL OCCUR BEHIND A STRONG COLD FRONT TUESDAY.
THE VERY WINDY CONDITIONS COMBINED WITH LOW HUMIDITIES AND CURED
FINE FUELS WILL RESULT IN A VERY HIGH FIRE DANGER ACROSS ALL OF
NORTH TEXAS. ANY WILDFIRE THAT DEVELOPS WILL BE EXTREMELY
DIFFICULT TO ATTACK OR CONTROL.”
Have a great Monday, but hang on to your hats and skirts!
