« Some sun today then back to cold and wet... | Main | Nice weather to continue... »

Hang on to your presents tomorrow as the wind may get fierce!

Today will just be plain cloudy, cold and damp. Showers will be on the increase as the day progresses and temperatures will hang out in the 40s for most of the day and then drop into the mid 30s overnight. On and off cold rain showers will be with us through the night. At this time it looks like there shouldn't be any wintry precipitation problems as temperatures remain above freezing tonight. Areas just to our north and northwest will see a slight chance of some frozen precip. I'll keep my eye on this for you and post updates as needed.

A strong cold front will move into the Denton area Saturday morning bringing much colder-drier air and very windy conditions with it. Wind may be the real weather story of the day on Saturday as we could see gusts at times reach nearly 40mph. That combined with dropping temperatures will make for "wind chill feels" in the 20s and teens by Saturday evening. With the dry air and strong winds, we may also see an elevated risk of grass fire danger Saturday afternoon.

Again to reiterate - the coldest temperatures so far this season will be with us Saturday night and a hard freeze is expected as temperatures drop into the mid 20s. Another hard freeze will occur again on Sunday night with lows in the upper 20s.

After this bout of unsettled weather over the weekend, we may finally see several days of sun accompanied by a slow warm up next week.

Holiday shoppers out tomorrow need to be prepared for extreme cold and windy conditions. Also watch out for flying wrapping paper and bows amongst other debris.

Have a great weekend and remember-there is sun at the end of the tunnel!
