« Grass fire potential is high today! | Main | Football Weather...Nice! »

Frost is possible for some of us tonight!

The current dry air in place, no clouds and much less wind than we've had of late will allow for excellent cooling overnight. I wouldn't be surprised to see some readings dip into the mid and low 30s tonight based on a quick local area dewpoint analysis.

The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a Frost Advisory that includes our immediate area.

QUOTE from the NWS:
"...FROST ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 3 AM TO 9 AM CDT
FRIDAY...

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN FORT WORTH HAS ISSUED A FROST
ADVISORY FOR PORTIONS OF NORTH TEXAS.

CLEAR SKIES AND LIGHT WINDS WILL ALLOW FOR CONSIDERABLE COOLING
THURSDAY NIGHT INTO FRIDAY MORNING. ALTHOUGH OFFICIAL TEMPERATURES
WILL REMAIN ABOVE FREEZING...NEAR-GROUND READINGS MAY DIP BELOW
FREEZING RESULTING ON FROST ACCUMULATION ON GRASS AND OTHER LOW
VEGETATION.

A FROST ADVISORY MEANS THAT AN EARLY OR LATE SEASON FROST IS
POSSIBLE. SENSITIVE OUTDOOR PLANTS MAY BE KILLED IF LEFT
UNCOVERED. WHILE NOT UNCOMMON FOR LATE OCTOBER...THIS MAY BE THE
FIRST FROST OF THE SEASON FOR MUCH OF THE ADVISORY AREA."

A record low of 30 degrees occurred on this date here in Denton a couple of years ago in 2005. So start getting ready for bursts of weather ups and downs as we move more into fall.

The general forecast remains pretty much on track as last blogged.

Have a nice evening everyone.
