« Cool evening on tap for Denton area... | Main | Severe storms are possible today... »

Cooler today than expected, but spring-like weather is in the forecast...

Low clouds and fog -pretty dense in some areas- have kept temperatures from warming very quickly this morning. In areas where the clouds hang around longer the temps will probably only make it into the mid 70s. I just looked at the infrared satellite loops, and at this time there is not much clearing happening in the immediate area. Wherever the clouds do break and the sun pops out temps will make it into the lower 80s.

Moisture is already on the increase -as noted by the above mentioned clouds and fog- from the south. This will make our weather begin to feel more like spring/summer again this week. We could see temperatures flirting with the 90 degree mark as we head into the mid and latter parts of the week.

The next storm system to affect us will be moving into the nation's mid-section tomorrow and may set off a relatively widespread severe weather outbreak across the central and southern plains. We will be on the southern edge of this active area. The dryline (a line of demarcation with high humidity to the east and very dry air to the west) will be moving into the area tomorrow. It will be the culprit to set off thunderstorms. I will keep a close eye on this situation as it develops.

Looking forward into the coming weekend, yet another and even stronger cold front will move into the region. It will bring a chance of severe weather with it, and then a real taste of Fall.

Here are yesterday's stats from around town:
