Cool unsettled weather will continue in our area...
The back edge of the moderate rain shield is moving east of the area at this time. The cold front has made into east Texas and to the upper Texas coast. Clear skies are noted west of Abilene, but the clearing line has not moved eastward since daybreak.
An upper level low pressure system has begun to slow its southward and eastward movement. It is currently spinning in west Texas. The movement of this item has been particularly difficult to forecast. Computer weather model guidance has been of no help in determining where this low will wind up over the next 48 hours. In turn this makes it difficult to pin down a reliable forecast for the Denton area. However, after looking over incoming data, and reviewing satellite loops I expect that this feature will meander in the Red River valley and north Texas area for a day or two. With this in mind I will keep mostly cloudy skies and scattered rain showers in our forecast through tomorrow at least.
We may see occasional breaks in the clouds, but with the upper level low in our area we will see them continue to wrap around it in a counter-clockwise fashion. Also spokes of energy will rotate around this system and continue the chances of on and off light rain and occasional rain showers.
Temperatures will stay on the cool side for most of the week with highs in the upper 50s warming into the mid 60s. Lows will be in the upper 40s to near 50.
