« Hot humid and breezy... Yuck! | Main | Same song second verse--could be better...BUT NOT! »

A few storms around this morning and maybe a few more this afternoon...

The actual cold front remains in southern Oklahoma and has not made it through Denton. It did however spawn some showers and thunderstorms that made their way into parts of the area. Downtown Denton pretty much missed out on this morning's rainfall as most of the activity moved through eastern sections of the county. After looking at private weather stations around us, the closest measurable rainfall amounts were in Frisco and The Colony and those were generally less than a tenth of an inch. Otherwise, just a trace of rainfall was noted here in the city with a bit of early morning thunder.

With the front still to our north very warm and humid conditions will persist this afternoon. I can't rule out some scattered thunderstorms in the area later today with afternoon heating. Our atmosphere is extremely moist (of course I didn't need to tell you that.) Therefore any showers and storms that form will be capable of heavy downpours.

Keep the umbrella handy just in case you get caught in an afternoon deluge.

Side Note: I've installed a private weather data collection station that is in test mode at this time. When I think that the data is ready for public you'll see it here on the DRC Weather Blog! My goal is to make Denton weather data--local and personalized.
