Wimpy front is a big bunch of nuthin'...
The front has stalled right on top of us. Looking back at the last 24 hours of official and private weather observations, I can see that it made it into Denton County around noon yesterday and pretty much just stopped. Its upper level support has moved on off to the northeast of us leaving the front to dissipate in the area. There were a few showers and storms around yesterday but if you did get some rain you were one of the lucky folks.
A look at this morning's atmosphere analysis shows that we do have some unstable and moist air around. That combined with the leftovers of the front and afternoon heating may pop up a few thunderstorms today. Once again they will be widely scattered with cloud to ground lightning being the main hazard.
The disturbance in the southern Gulf of Mexico became a tropical depression yesterday evening. The forecast for it is to possibly strengthen into a tropical storm, but it should only affect Mexico.
Our weather will continue to be warm and muggy with afternoon high temperatures around 90 degrees and nighttime lows in the mid 60s.
Have a great day everyone.
