Front on the way with rain possible later today...
The tail end of a front is entering the northwestern portions of our area this morning.
Here is a snapshot taken at 11:00am of the radar overlaid with temperatures and cloud cover. I also put the approximate position of the front on the map. Denton is located in the lower righthand corner of the image. This image is courtesy of the WeatherToGolf.Com radar imaging system.

The front is generating showers and thunderstorms as it moves slowly to the southeast. The front may actually slow down more or even stall at times during the day today. It should however make it through the area by this evening. With that being the case I am continuing with a 40% chance of precipitation for our area beginning later today and into the day tomorrow. Not everyone will get to see rain, but those who do should be cautious of cloud to ground lightning and heavy downpours. Organized severe weather doesn't look to be a problem with this system.
The front and associated rain should cool high temperatures into the mid 80s tomorrow. We should see mid to upper 80s for highs and mid 60s for lows for the remainder of the week after the front clears the area. Another front that I had mentioned yesterday for later in the weekend should still affect our area, but at this time it is hard to tell just how strong it will be.
We do now have Tropical Storm Karen out in the Atlantic. It will not be influencing our weather, but I mention it as it is the 11th named storm this year which now puts us above normal for the 2007 hurricane season.
The area of disturbed weather in the Gulf of Mexico is holding its own for now. If it appears to be getting more organized, a Hurricane Hunter aircraft will be scheduled to fly into it later today. I will wait for more data before making my own forecast in regards to it.
I will provide updates as needed for our local area weather.
