Hot, humid, windy...Eclipse of the Moon
Comment received from: "Robert"
There was quite a bit more wind yesterday than I had expected and today’s weather will be much like yesterday. Partly cloudy, hot, humid and windy with a less than 10 percent chance of isolated showers.
Later into the weekend the remnants of the front that I had mentioned a couple of posts ago will finally be affecting mainly the eastern sections of the area with an upped chance of showers and storms. Looking at satellite loops this morning I can see an upper level low traversing the northern Gulf of Mexico. It may make next week a bit more unsettled for us, and give the area a better shot at some rain. As much rain as we have had it is now time for some more. At least my yard says so!
A total lunar eclipse of the full moon will happen on the morning of Tuesday the 28th and be visible here in north Texas. The total eclipse will begin at 4:52am and last until 6:22am. Be sure and take a look if you’re up and we don’t have any morning clouds to deal with. During lunar eclipses the Moon can become very colorful taking on a bright orange, blood red or dark brown appearance. I’ll keep you updated on the weather as the event approaches.
Below is an image courtesy of NASA showing the times and places of the moon as the Earth blocks the sunlight from reaching it.
