Nice weather for Labor Day weekend!

A very nice Labor Day weekend is in store for us. Yesterday's frontal passage brought some scattered areas of heavy rain and a few storm damage reports to North Texas. The damage was mainly downburst winds that broke some tree branches. Of course my pecan trees are so loaded with nuts this year that every time it rains hard or gets windy I loose a couple of branches here and there, but I digress! J
August was drier than normal and warmer than normal according to records. It looks as if we will end the month with 2.02" below average rainfall, and 2.7 degrees above average temperature for August.
What to expect:
Some climo (climatological) data for September: The average daily high is 86.1 degrees with the average nightly low at 65.0 degrees. The average monthly rainfall is 3.35". The current 30 day outlook keeps us within normal levels.
Here are the latest outlook maps provided by the Climate Prediction Center. They will be releasing updated maps after 2pm today. I’ll let you know if there are any significant differences. In my opinion we might move the above normal precipitation line a bit further north as La Niña conditions are still trying to form. Otherwise not much change is expected in the outlook as this is one of our seasonal transition months. Fall is not far away!
